OUR BASKET OF FRESH APPLES

We are starting a alphabet book with our FUNSHINE EXPRESS curriculum.  This is our A with apples on it.

The apples in our yard are round and red, round and red, round and red
The apples in our yard are round and red in our tree.
The apples in our yard are way up high, way up high, way up high,
The apples in our yard are way up high in our tree.
The apples in our yard are juicy and sweet, juicy and sweet, juicy and sweet,
The apples in our yard are juicy and sweet in our tree.

All the kids know this song but every time we get to the juicy and sweet part they crack up laughing as they are rubbing their little tummies.

See how they are laughing so hard at the juicy and sweet part?

ROLLING THE APPLE IN THE TABLE
Some kids choose not to get their hands all dirty and some couldn't wait for their turn.

THIS IS BARRON who started the new year with us.  He must know the camera with that big smile.

YES..YUMMY APPLE PIES!!
We colored the crust and pie brown, drizzled glue all over it, added cinnamon, then glued white packing styrofoam  on the pie for the apples.  YUM they smelt sooo good!!

Hi Caliegh she has also started the new year with us.  Its great to see the kids having a good time.

He we are back to our apple song.
APPLES APPLES APPLES
This year I have incorporated a scholastic magazine to go with our themes.  We get 2 a month per child, plus a big one for the teacher.  This taught the kids the different stages of how an apple grows.  The kids also learned a new apple song, the letter A, and read many apple books.

Teagan noticed a pattern and we all took turns counting the apples.
The magazine also has a worksheet on the back, it was about seeds and counting them.

So I bought a few apples for the kids.  But by the end of the week they were bruised and broken.  The kids rolled them on blocks, threw them like balls, cooked with them, drove around in the cars, painted, rolled the apples in the sand and water table with red paint, and a few kids tried to bite them.  So needless to say by the end of the week we couldn't eat them and fill in our taste chart.  O well we had fun while they lasted.
