Fire Prevention

What a great week we had.  The local fire dept came out for a visit during our fire prevention safety week.  Our circle time board consisted of Fire Safety thoughts during the week.  Where are we going for a fire, what are we going to do if its an emergency but not a fire, why do we strop drop and roll? 

Here we are doing the stop drop and roll.  We watched a few computer videos on fire safety as well.

One day consisted on talking a walk around the block to count fire hydrants and to talk about what they are used for.  Half way around the block the kids are singing.....9...1...1

So when the crew got there I first told them who we are, our focus this week, and how thankful we are that they took their time out to come visit us. After that, the firemen starting talking to them about what they do and how they help people.  A series of questions came from the firemen to the children...asking fire safety and prevention questions.  I must say our crew knew just about every answer as well as elaborating on the answers.  When the fireman looked over at me and said "WOW you have done a really good job teaching them, they knew a lot" I felt like something was accomplished.  On top of that the kids were so well behaved and gave a big thank you to the firemen.

 This was really cool.  The fireman laid out all his gear and went through every piece one by one explaining what is does and what it is.

 As they drove off the sirens and light went off, the horn was beeping and the kids all waved goodbye.
